The weeks Top rated Pub!
Poltimore Arms Pinhole
Overall rating: 60
Overall first impressions: 7
Olde yolde, warm atmosphere with good hearted locals, the bar staff very friendly with a smile, prices not cheap but except-able, different lay out, and good amenity's, great beer garden when its fine, plenty of nooks and crannies to hide in.
Price & Availability: 7
For a out of town pub the prices are are cheap but keep to the prices of the town center, plenty of choice and often great deals, though bar food not available at present there are talks of adding soon.
Service, 9
The service can not be knocked, always a smile, always happy to serve, acknowledges you if waiting.
Cleanliness, 9
Very good, for a older style pub, even the toilets are exceptionable.
Layout & Amenity's, 7
Based on a L shaped main bar, meaning no lounge.. but plenty of places to sit, to the front of the pub, as you walk in you are confronted right away with the bar, and there isn't much room to move if busy but you can soon pan the area for seats, which we normally sit closest to the back door for easy excess to the smoking areas and superb beer garden, the toilets are situated near the back of the main bar, meaning you have to walk around the L shaped bar, and when busy can be a bit timely, past the toilets to the back of the bar are other areas to hang out, including a made up covered smoking area, a skittle ally and function rooms. all in all you have to be a adventurer to find your way around till you get used to it. worth a extra mention is its large back garden area.. when the weather is fine.. its a great place to be.
Location, 6
Because of its out of town location, really just ideal for the locals, but its worth a venture out, as there are other places near by if this establishment is not enough for a longer duration, the pub is close to a local all hours shop, take away choices and a bus stop, where buses run frequently in and out of town.
Atmosphere, 8
Depends on the day or night, but our first impressions was good, and generally very pleasant, you are made to feel at home very quickly and what with its ye olde pub theme.. with real fires and friendly locals its got great potential for a good drinking session.
Entertainment, 7
Live bands and in house entertainment laid on weekly.. mostly good for the locals but again worth a visit, recreational entertainment includes, Darts, pool table, skittle alley ( available on request), duke box, and Sky Sports.
